Sick and Trojans
I and my computer both got sick about the same time. I with some awful cold or flu, with a cough that won't stop. I got it from my son, we are both almost well after about 3 weeks now. My poor computer got some backdoor Trojan which apparently let others in also. Seems to be no solutions to remove the last and most vicious of them as it is all over my computer. My externals are okay, but didn't get to back up onto either in a few months, but at least they are safe. All my research of the past few months is on my computer and the most I have found in such a short time. In fact I found more in 4 months work than I did in the first years of my researching. My sons think I can probably scan each section and then burn a disk, plus I will be printing out all the text and documents. We are not sure about the photos and other images on the computer, they maybe compromised but hopefully they are okay as well. This will all take me a while to do but at least I didn't crash and lose it all. I hate those kids, mostly 15-25 that send out those viruses etc or attach them to things. Apparently I got one from one of the German sites while I was doing research, since it is all in German. I haven't done much online because of the computer issue, have to use an old laptop and being sick didn't help. I will post some sites later. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday. :)

Genealogy classes online
This site has interesting genealogy classes, even classes for specific search areas and genealogy programs. The classes are for a month and they are now starting something new where you work on your own time and email the instructor, with two lessons per week. I have seen some classes I would like to take, one in particular is for Eastern Europe. If you would like to check it out:

A new use for genealogy
Now genealogy is also being used to help coroners with unclaimed persons. There is even a site to sign up to help. So far about 400 people have signed up, and since June 2008, 29 unclaimed persons have been claimed by family that was located by those volunteers.

Fun Link
I got a link to a really cool site, you take your photo, and can add the image to an object like a magazine cover or newspaper or even put someone's head on someone else, etc. This will be fun on scrapping layouts, whether heritage or not.

I'm trying something new, more for myself and family/friends, so it will be interesting to see if I continue or not.
